Centro de Arte Ortiz Gurdian
Description
The Art Center was born on December 5, 2000 with the inauguration of the Norberto Ramírez house. In November 2002 the Derbyshire house opens; in 2006, the Delgadillo house and in 2013, the Deshon house. The Norberto Ramírez, Delgadillo and Deshon houses communicate with each other. The four houses with wide corridors, lounges and gardens, built between the 18th and 19th centuries, are examples of the most authentic Leonese architecture of those times. They were acquired and restored starting in 1999 by the Ortiz Gurdian family, with the genuine desire that they house in their interiors part of the universal art collection that they have been building over many years, and thus be able to share it with their Nicaraguan compatriots and international visitors.
At the Ortiz-Gurdián Foundation Art Center they will have a memorable encounter with Western art from the Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism to Latin American modernity, indigenous antiquity and contemporary Latin American art. The exhibition contains a sample that is projected in time, beginning with artistic pieces from the 16th century, artistic avant-garde, Latin American art and ending with contemporary art. The collection has winning works in the biennials sponsored by the Ortiz Gurdián Foundation.
