THE HISTORY
While traveling together during a series of college-age surfing vacations, longtime friends and craft beer fans Brendan DeBlois and Matt Greenberg realized the need for fresh craft beer and the land of lakes. and Vulcans. The idea of bringing craft beer to Nicaragua was spawned by cultivating a brewery on one of the most famous beaches in Nicaragua, San Juan del Sur. After leaving their jobs in the US, we found a third partner, Bobby Hottensen, and together they worked on fine-tuning a business plan. With the help of friends at Cisco Brewers in Nantucket, Massachusetts, Brendan worked side-by-side with award-winning brewmaster, Jeff Hormer, to create recipes for "The Boom" IPA, "Maderas" Wheat Beer, and "Popoyo." Passion fruit beer. In 2013, Brendan, Matt, and Bobby moved to Nicaragua to pursue the vision.
BEERS
All of our beers are produced on-site with our 33-barrel system. Implementing traditional methods of beer production, as well as the selection of the finest ingredients, we strive to create deep and nuanced flavors in every batch of beer. Something that we always face is the heat, being that we are located in a tropical climate. No one should be forced to take the last warm drops of a beer that has not been sufficiently refrigerated. That's why we like to serve our beer in a 10-ounce glass, ice cold, and straight from the barrel. We cool our beer with glycol to 35 degrees Fahrenheit and it stays at this temperature until it is in the glass. We want our beer to be refreshing but without compromising flavor.

BREWERY
At the San Juan del Sur Brewery, we celebrate flavor. We see the need to eat as an opportunity to enjoy ourselves. Although we had a lot of fun, we take seriously the experience offered by the first brewery in San Juan del Sur. We care more about the quality of our beer, our food and the creation of a comfortable and pleasant environment where you can enjoy everything. Rich, deep-flavored beers can achieve the incredible when paired with food, taking you to places where even wine can't. The variety of flavors and aromas available in traditional beer styles creates compatibility and versatility with an endless selection of food styles and flavors. We enjoy introducing the experience of having a beer paired perfectly with a meal to people who have never experienced it before. You have to admire the fresh citrus aroma of a wheat beer paired with a fresh golden taco. You also have to admire the hoppy fruit flavors of an IPA beer with the smoky flavor of a pork taco. Small plates are designed to be mixed and matched with beers to create the perfect combination.
Twice each month, we host a multi-course banquet in which the dishes are paired with one of our beers currently on tap. You have to book tickets in advance, and the whole night has a fixed price.
