Description
Three centuries later, on June 12, 1855, the filibuster William Walter disembarked at the El Realejo port and wanted to take over the city of Rivas Nicaragua to guarantee control of the steam transit line and the interoceanic route of the drain or Rio San Juan. On June 29, Walter's men entered the plaza in the city of Rivas Nicaragua where the teacher Emmanuel Mongalo (national hero) takes an active part in the defense of the city, an act known as "The First Battle of Rivas" and in which the enemy was repulsed.
In honor of this noble action, the institute has been named after our hero Emmanuel Mongalo, we are committed to educating and teaching children and young people from the city of San Juan del Sur and nearby communities for the integral and intellectual development of the youth of our community.
